Summer is ending and school is resuming. Back to our studies inside stuffy buildings. No more days spent at the beach, Lounging around, tanning, enjoying summer’s heat. Sitting in small desks listening to lectures. Getting handed two hundred point projects, due in three days. Daydreaming about the time we spent at county fairs, screaming as we plunged three hundred feet to the ground. Trembling hand, Waits. Thrust out in front of her body, If that is what it can be called. Her skin stretches Over her sharp white bones, Looking for escape. Dilated eyes, Scan her surroundings, Waiting For her best friend. She takes the baggy In her trembling hands. Her thin lips Twitch into a smile. Unsteady, She walks.
